Frenectomies

A frenectomy is a procedure where we remove a small piece of tissue called the frenulum. The most common locations are under the tongue and upper lip. If your baby is having difficulty breastfeeding or latching on, or if your older child is experiencing speech, eating, or orthodontic issues, we might suggest a frenectomy as a solution.

Before scheduling a frenectomy, it's important to meet with a lactation consultant or a speech therapist. They will conduct a thorough evaluation and provide guidance on whether the procedure is appropriate for your child. Additionally, they will demonstrate exercises aimed at preventing reattachment of the frenulum. This ensures that we make informed decisions and provide the best possible care for you.

Dr. Roman uses a state-of-the-art CO2 Solea Laser for a quick, precise, and gentle procedure. Not all lasers are the same. CO2 lasers promote rapid healing and minimize the risks of infection, bleeding, and discomfort.
